Axis

Axis

There were many incarnations of Axis. Steve Downey started the first version of Axis with Terry Hacker and Thane Rogers. They practiced in Downey's mom’s basement. The name came from the Jimi Hendrix album "Axis Bold as Love." That version played gigs for a while, but was rather short-lived. Later Terry and Steve joined Norman Mehl on B-3 and Pat Kelly on drums and played at the Casino using that name. Years later Terry restarted Axis with the horns, with horn players, Steve House and Ron Barnhart, Mike Kilpatrick on guitar, Thane Rogers on drums and Terry Hacker on bass. At one time John Smith was on guitar, and Dave Smith on drums.
